MADE TO ORDER IN THE UK
THE WAY FORWARD

Hello! How are you? I hope you have been going well?
Hello 2021! The past few months have been a little challenging here in London, during this third lockdown. But we're just over the peak of the virus now, and I'm starting to feel hopeful as we look toward March to when things may open up again. I hope wherever you are in the world that you are going well.
Following on from my last update, working with fabric has been something I have wanted to explore for some time. I would often entertain the idea while working on cards and prints for Burrow.28, and it has stayed with me ever since. Then last year, during lockdown, when I could no longer photograph interiors, I thought, well, now is a good time as any.
The desire to fulfil my creative juices is still at the core of what I want to produce. However, my responsibility as a maker for its impact on the environment undoubtedly drives how I will structure LEUT, the suppliers I choose, materials I use, and who I collaborate with.
Over the past month, I've been testing colours on fabrics which is exciting. I’m starting to get a feel for how the designs scale and show texture. I'm choosing only to use natural fabrics with linen being my preferred choice. I'll see how it holds up to testing in terms of washing and how it drapes overall once I have a completed sample done. The website has needed some overdue coding tweaks, updating store policies, and writing the core values of LEUT, which will soon be shared. AND there is a lot more to come.
I’ll continue to share as much as I can about what I am producing as I go along, but feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Take care,
R Xx
